Welcome to BigRock Lures LLC

Hi, BigRock here. Welcome and feel free to roam as you like,  I would like to take a minute to thank those who are directly or indirectly responsible for my taking this plunge:

     My buddy Dave Petry of Twisted Whistle Lures, so many hours brainstorming and thinking out the details, so much saw dust and epoxy fumes, what we've learned together set up apart, and it always stays with us, friends like you don't come around often;  John Nixon, for the honest opinions and great ideas, and for all the help and support;  Skippy, what can I say but thank you, you always shared and I learned a lot from you, but most importantly I made a friend;  Carmine and Eddie from Big Eds, to all the hours on the water and all the candy bars, and for all the custom rods,thanks Carm; DJ Muller, all the hours pounding the rocks and surf forms bonds that remain unbroken, thanks for being a friend and the whole surf fishing community thanks you for the great book; Lefty, you have been an inspiration to all of us, and you will always be the father of modern plug building;  Paul Comeford, Tom Hanson, and Mike Malik and the whole crew from Grumpys in Seaside Park, home is where your friends are, and you are my home shop; Dave Arnold, you bought my first plugs and helped me develop them with your honest opinions, thanks buddy; Joe Pallotto and the whole Asbury Park Fishing Club, you guys are aces; to Rich Karpowicz from PlugCaster Lures, the future looks bright, here's to a good friendship; Zeno Hromin, heres to a good start, you are one fine fisherman and one fine author, thanks for a great book;

To Big Ron Dobrowolski, your opinions and experience have been more important to me than you know, and without you I would have never known that stripers don't only live in saltwater;  and to my Father,Russsell SrDad, although you may be gone you are not forgotten, you instilled in me the drive and determination to succeed in this, showed me what a good work ethic is, and always stood by me, you are with me always, and I say your name every time I wet a line.

    In the early'80's, I started chopping off the handles of my dad's brooms and garden tools to make poppers with screw eyes and spray paint. Boy did I get in trouble! Boy did they catch fish! Cut to the early '90's, I stood on the beach staring at the magnificent creation in my hands; a Lefty swimmer. A haze spread through my brain and I knew I had to go deeper......
     Cut to 2003, I stood outside the Asbury Park Convention Center staring in awe at the most awesome plug I ever held, a Skippy swimmer. The haze took over again and I knew there was farther to go......
     All the while the BigRock swimmer was evolving. 14 prototypes and thousands of test hours from as many as 36 hard core fishermen came down to 1 final moment; the first swim of the BigRock 5.2 swimmer. It was early spring of 2005, and the design was finally done. Another year of testing by the hard core surf set proved the plug and the lathe began to hum. The plug made its debut at the 2006 Asbury Park Fishing Club flea market to an overwhelming sucess.

     Each and every BigRock lure is handmade by me, BigRock, in my cave, from raw wood to packaged product. Each plug is unique and no 2 are just alike,and the swim and consistency are tested by me.
